Peter and I went to get our wedding license today! YAY! We got it at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and it was so fun. We had to say this speech together outloud...hilarious. :)

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who have not submitted a food order yet; I need to turn them in tomorrow at 11am.  The options are steak, chicken or vegetarian dinner.  The descriptions of each are listed under the reception tab to the left on this site.

Please email your selection to me at amanda.spoor@merceradvisors.com asap! :) Thank you ever so!

If you didn't get a chance to physically mail in your RSVP postcard back to me (Amanda) would you please email me at the email address above, whether you are coming or not, so I can be sure what the final count is. I need to turn those in tomorrow too.  If you already verbally gave your RSVP and food order to Melissa Kuzmanoff, then that is sufficient.

Thanks!

Amanda

I had an awesome time on Saturday with the volleyball gang at the Halloween/Bachelorette party.  Thank you so much to all who helped put it together and for those who made it! We had so much fun at Debbie's house and then we all carpooled downtown and hung out at Sandbar and Old King's Road till they kicked us out.  It was so fun! I actually made it home just fine; had a little trouble finding my key to get in my house at the end of the night, as poor Ruth will contest to, but all in all I managed to survive it quite well.

Also, for those who might be wondering, my tan came out just fine (thank goodness) that is other than my feet and hands look a little freckled? Bizarre.  Better that than my face I guess. :)  Oh and I believe I flashed the entire neighborhood as I was being sprayed down, minor side effect. I realized it after we were done and I went outside to go to my car and on my way back in I could see perfectly into the room where I was being sprayed as the miniblinds weren't all the way closed..opps.  The next morning a few of my guy neighbors were being awfully nice to me with their cheshire grins...pretty sure they got a good glimpse of the ladies. haha

We are less than 2 weeks away! WOW!  So excited to see all of you!

Luv,

Amanda

Well I got my hair cut and highlighted last night for the wedding! I actually really love it. Well, that is...I think I will really like it.  Right off the bat it always looks a little harsh, which is why I got it done two weeks before the wedding. In two weeks (holy crap its only two weeks till the wedding!!!!) it should settle in and hopefully look beautiful. Finger's crossed.

Also I am going to get my spray tan on tonight at my house for a little event the volleyball girls are putting on this Saturday to see if I like it for the wedding (SO Excited - Thanks ladies!).  So, when I called, the girl told me that she is a "traveling" spray tanner...who knew those existed...and that she will come to my house to do it.  I thought great! That is easy.  Then when I texted her back to ask her what I am supposed to wear... that is where it got a little confusing?  She said to wear loose fitting dark/black clothes?  But no other details...so does she lift the clothes up and spray underneath or do I stand there in full monty or ?  Not quite sure...I guess time will tell as the appointment is today at 5:30.

Given it is at my own house I guess I can wear whatever I want, but I have a feeling it might be a little awkward.

We'll see!! Wish me luck that I don't come out looking like a tangerine! :)

Sue, Peter's mom took us to the most wonderful Sushi dinner ever tonight!!! Thank you Sue! What a special night...Peter's 36th birthday and his final birthday before the wedding. Arigato is by far the best sushi restaurant in the world (in our opinion) and we had a free for all (to say the least) and got all of Peter's favorite items and then some.  It was amazing.  We ended it with the godzilla green tea ice cream with stawberries which if you haven't ever have deep fried tempura green tea ice cream it is like heaven on Earth!  It was soooo good.  I had been on a special diet (not that its working...haha) for the last two weeks and food tonight tasted even better than ever! Happy Birthday Peter!  I love you ever so. Here's to so many more birthdays together.  Good night my love. :)

So Melissa called me yesterday to let me know she had gotten the tuxedo for Nate and that it was nice.  NICE? I invisioned Nate in a little tuxedo as being over the top the cutest thing ever! So NICE wasn't exactly what I was expecting.  She went on to say he look sooo cute, but I was still a little skeptical.

Then I started to think about it (aka panic).... Peter had mentioned when he went to select the tux, that the guy that helped him wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the box (and that was stating it kindly).  He asked Peter if Amanda started with an "I" and whether Michael was spelled Mikal (and those were not even the worst of them).

Anyway, given I wanted to make sure the group was set up to get the right tuxedo I asked her, "So what did it look like?"

Here is what she said, "Well it was a white shirt with vertical pleating and a black dinner/suit, like jacket that you would wear to dinner. I definately doesn't look like your typical tuxedo like the kind that you would wear to prom or you know like the one Steve Martin wears in Father of the Bride." (Part of that response was good, and part of it was bad). So of course, I started to panic...as the tux we picked out for the group is as traditional of a tuxedo (like the ones they wear to prom) as it gets. It is literally called their "Classic Tuxedo".  I was sure it was all wrong.  I called Melissa back and told her that I had better call Men's Wearhouse when I got home that night because something did not seem right. And continued to lightly panic/wonder about it for a few hours...

So on my way home that night I get a voicemail from her and she is laughing soooo hard.  She said that my response on the phone had made her wonder if maybe something was not right either, so she called the store.  She kindly asked about whether they were sure they had the right code for the group. They did and she started to tell him that the tuxedo they were supposed to get looks like a traditional tuxedo (double breasted lapel etc). The guy proceeded to chuckle and said, "We had your son try on a sample jacket just for size." HAHA So all was okay in the world again.  Nate will be in a mini black double breasted tuxedo which will be the cutest thing ever (as I had originally invisioned).

Actually speaking of tiny, Melissa followed up this relief with a hilarious vision...she said that when the guy was trying the dinner jacket on Nate he had a size 4 and a size 6 as the options (no 5 for some reason, which would have probably fit a 5-year-old perfectly???) Anyway, so he puts the 4 on and she said Nate looked like Tommy Boy "Big man in a little coat."  The guy in a serious manner was like, "so the six then?"  Guess he hadn't seen the movie...

Too funny!

Sincerely,

Imanda  (sister of Mikal) haha :) Gotta love it!

Who goes to school while trying to plan a wedding and working full time? What was I thinking???  I am sitting here working on my midtem and all I can think about is whether we are going to be able to find chairs for the ceremony, whether I am going to have time to fill out the info on the photographer's website, whether I am going to be able to get all of the songs picked for the DJ and call the videographer that was gifted to us by my acupuncturist! (Thank you Johnny!!!). Instead of doing those things I am working on questions like,"Which of the following statements concerning the definition of total disability in disability income insurance contract is (are) correct?" Again, what was I thinking!!! HAHA.

Oh well thanks to my wonderful friends and family it is progressing and will come together by the big day!  It is going to be the best wedding ever!  In the meantime, I have a feeling I will be up until midnight working on this midterm! I just have to remember that at least I will be done with another class and be able to sit for the exam in the beginning of July 2012! The funny part is I am supposed to study an additional 400 hours before I take the exam and complete two more classes between now and then! Who studies for 400 hours....how many hours per day is that anyway, it doesn't even sound possible??

Wait!!! I have my calculator handy I can tell you....so if there are 30 days in a month (on average) and I will have six months to get through the 400 hours and I work 8 of those hours per day 5 days per week and 8 hours sleeping that leaves 1,824 hours left, but I also have to go to school which will take about 300 hours to be in class and homework so that leaves 1,524 hours left over so I will basically have to study a little less than 1/3 of the rest of my waking hours. Wow I just realized the first 6 months of marriage are going to so super fun for Peter! I guess we'll just have to make sure our 8 hours of sleep together is high quality sleep because that may be the only time we get to see each other. HAHA...Let's just pray I did the math wrong.

Ok, back to the midterm!

Peter is going to get his tuxedo picked out and fitted on Monday!! I am so excited for him. I think for men it is when it all starts to become/feel real. My Dad's wife Mary was so great and gave us the best coupon at Men's Wherehouse for the entire wedding party.  THANKS MARY!

I can't wait to see him! My Peter is going to look gorgeous!!! I have always loved seeing him in suits; however I don't think I have ever seen him in a tuxedo!!!  Peter being as handsome as he is with his gorgeous golden eyes, will look like a darn movie star! I absolutely can't wait to see hiim!!! I love you baby! Hope it is a fun experience for you!

I reserved the hotel we will be staying at the night of the wedding which is The Villa Rosa. The only room left was Room 14 which I loved. The 1 represents us becoming 1 and has been sort of our number throughout the engagement/wedding since the date we got engaged on was 1/1/11 at 12:01am and we are getting married on 11/11/11 (and also Peter is my #1! of course) and the number 4 was my number at Pepperdine where I played college volleyball so it is too perfect!

The hotel is a small, sort of warm hotel that feels a little like a bed and breakfast eventhough it isn't.  I am trying to decide if I am going to stay there the night before the wedding day by myself as well so Peter and I won't see each other the morning of the wedding.  I would really like to, as it would give me a nice place to get ready for the rehersal dinner and a nice place to get ready the morning of the wedding, but am not sure if we can make it work.  We'll just have to see when that day gets closer. We will be staying there on 11/11/11 for sure which will be where we spend our first night as a married couple together! :) So special.

So, today is the first day I can remember in quite some time where I slept in and am lying in bed watching Kim Kardashian's wedding on tv which BTW... who knew my selections of flowers...orchids, gardenias, white roses etc. and our wedding colors which are white, green from the plants and the touch of black would be so "in"! Her wedding has more black than ours, but it was in Santa Barbara and there were many similaries...at 100,000th of the scale of course as she went way, way over the top...holy moly.

Anyway, it has been a lovely morning. I really needed some down time. I have a mid term due on Monday which is 125 questions about risk and insurance; however I decided it can wait until this afternoon to start it because I needed some quiet down time.  I am feeling much better now.

Here's to a great rest of the weekend!

Final Booking of the Honeymoon is done!!! YAY! So excited.  .....here we come! It is going to be awesome!  Be on the lookout in the blog or maybe on the website as I may reveal the destination in the next few days.  hee hee  :)

Also we qualified for the 7% surcharge on the website to be waived so that money comes to Peter and me, which is so wonderful.  I had to work really hard with the company's incredibly kind travel agents and employees in order to get that approved, and we are so appreciative.

Wow! It just hit me...we are going to have our toes in the nice warm water in one month's time! OMG! OMG! OMG!

For those of you who are unaware, Peter and I want more than anything to be able to go on this trip and all of your contributions on the website are so appreciated we can't even begin to thank you enough! We wouldn't be able to go on a honeymoon at all without everyone's kindness, so thank you ever so much!

Love, Amanda

So I just put my outfit all together and it is hanging in my closet door on the hanger! I love it! It is a black twenties style flapper dress in the front with a black flowy shirt over it and I have a black and a white boa to go over it.  I know I will be a little more 20's than pin up 50's but finding pin up 50's was a little challenging. I also have these great fishnet stockings with the line in the back if I can make it all work and look cute. I'll have to see when I actually get it all on.  Plus all of my pearls, of course!  And my super black high heels that have a ruffle around the toe! I also got one of those long cigarette sticks with sparkles all over it from a costume store just for fun! I can't wait to put it all on tomorrow! And for the first time in a long time I am going to hot roller my hair! Watch out world!

I hope those of you who are able to make it are as excited as I am!!!! :) Thank you so much to all for your help and contributions to make this shower possible! I am so thankful to each and every one of you!  And a special thanks to my mom, sister and Anna as for without you I would not be putting on a shower or a wedding for that matter! You are my lifesavers! :) I love you all so much and cannot wait to see everyone!!!

If you need any help getting to the shower or need directions, please feel free to call me at 805-452-5945.

If you are coming from the north you go 101 South, exit Dawson, go straight at the stop sign and turn right on Village Commons Blvd. My mom's house is about 7-10 houses down on the right hand side.

If coming from the south, the exit is Pleasant Valley Road, Turn left and follow it around until you hit Village Commons Blvd. Turn Right.  Her house will be on the left hand side after you go throuhg the stop sign.

We will try to put something out by the tree to make it easier to locate.  SO EXCITED!!!

:) Love to all! Amanda

This week has been crazy at work!!! Wow I can't believe I made it through.  The shower is going to be such a nice treat to a very long week!  So very excited!!!

So Peter and I are sitting here watching baseball and I am trying to interupt him asking about how I might do my hair for the wedding, of course forcing pictures of different hair styles in front of him and eventhough he would be fine with whatever i pick, i could tell he wasn't in love with the few pictures I had, so I mentioned that I might just do a side bun; which in my mind is where all of your hair is pulled to one side, close to your shoulder with little whispy hairs all over the face to make it look romantic.  In his mind it was all together something different.  His question was "Do you mean just like half a Princess Leia?"  I laughed my you know what off. I could just invision that tightly wrapped bun, just on one side of my head right by my ear ...so funny!

I am getting so excited! I have started getting RSVP's back which is really fun! We know it is a long way for many of you and we so appreciate those who are able to make it. So everyday now, I get the mail after work and collect the RSVP postcards face up and then slowly turn them over to see if that person is going to be able to make it and I get soooo excited when I see "attending!" YAY! What fun! It is going to be a great celebration!

I had my practice make-up done today to for the wedding!  It was such a lovely day and experience! Thank you to my friend Lucinda ever so for your help, generosity and getting my colors figured out.  I hope it turns out as well as it did today on the wedding day, but as of right now, I look like I am ready for a photo shoot!  I wish I could look like this every night for Peter when we are just sitting around watching movies. :)

Finding how to locate the blog is not as easy as I thought it would be.  I hope the guest view is a little easier to find.

I am getting so excited for the wedding!  My work is putting on a little work shower for me on Sunday, which is so incredibly sweet and I can't wait! YAY!

Well I just finished a few of the pages that are a part of our wedding website and am so excited it is finally LIVE for all to see! В Invitations just went out and I am getting ready to have my first wedding dress fitting on October 1st! All is happening so fast and we are getting so incredibly excited! Love to all! I hope people are able to join the blog and feel free to let me know if there is anything you would like me to add to the website to help others or make something easier for you. В I will do my best; as it gets closer to the wedding, posting will probably become less frequent as things will get so busy; however for the next few weeks В I will do my best to be actively participating in the blog :)В
