Obviously for the most part, anywhere you stay in Santa Barbara is going to be great! If I were planning the trip for you, I would chose a hotel in downtown Santa Barbara, rather than be swayed by the cheaper prices of Goleta; just for convenience reasons.  Goleta is great, that is where we live and we LOVE it, however it can be a 15 minute drive and with traffic it can be even longer to the wedding site.  Just something to think about.

NOW, for those who are looking for the ultimate in luxury, The Simpson House, which was built in 1876 is incredible and is the only AAA 5 star bed and breakfast in California.  It is about 6 blocks from the wedding site and you will be pampered! Next would be The Biltmore which is AMAZING; it is in Montecito (where Opera lives), but a good 10 miles from the wedding site. Another luxurious great property is The Canary, which is more reasonable that the above two properties, but still nice and it is about 1 mile from the wedding and it has a cool 360 degree rooftop view of Santa Barbara. If we can make it work, this is probably where Peter and I will be staying the night of the wedding, but haven't decided for certain yet.

And for those of us who are trying to get through this economy or maybe just enjoy saving wherever we can just for the fun of it, there is an amazing little motel that looks like multiple little cottages all put together (1 story) called The Marina Beach Motel which is 1 block from the beach and about 5 miles from the wedding site and is approx. $99/night.  In Santa Barbara, that is reasonable.  The rooms are smaller, but have kitchenettes and bikes you can ride and complimentary continental breakfast available. There are only about 12 rooms, so book early. Also The Villa Rosa is a nice, neat property close to the ocean with a wonderful feel to it.

For something in the middle price range you could look at the HarborView Inn which is in a similar location as The Marina Beach Inn, facing the beach/ocean but it is a bigger property with a pool and is right by the pier.

Obviously there are many deals out there online.  Try to stay in Santa Barbara if you can.  If you have questions feel free to put it on the blog.  Someone will hopefully answer even if it isn't me.   There are many guests/relatives who have lived in Santa Barbara who can assist you via the blog, if I am not available.

Book Early! :)
