December 27, 2010 John and I go out to BJs to do our post holiday food shopping, since we were going to have people over at the house for New Year's eve.
After shopping John and I were talking about getting something to eat, and when we got home and unloaded, John just disappeared.
All of a sudden i get a text message that tells me that i need to read the note on the table. this note told me to go to the place where they make the best chocolate in town. Oh my goodness a scavenger hunt, how cool.. Needless to say, I wasnt so sure it was a scavenger hunt, but I figured that it must be since John was no where to be found.
So I head over to Norman Love Chocolatier and wouldnt you know there is another note waiting for me behind the counter. This sent me to one of our favorite food spots, (although the rhyming was a little off). So I walk into Rib City and a woman hands me a bottle of hot sauce in a bag, along with another note, and $2.00.
Wow am I going over the Cape Coral bridge? Well the note directed me towards the first place that John and I went on a date, but that wouldnt need $2.00, so where am I going (ps.. good thing I had a GPS- otherwise I would still be looking).
So I take a chance and go to Joe's Crab Shack, and I was right, John was sitting in the same booth that we had our first date.
He was so cute, just sitting there, and we had a really nice lunch. We even took a picture, which is more than we did the last time, because he was embarrased about eating crab legs on the first date.
After lunch John took me out to the parking lot and told me that it was about time that he gave me something, and brought me to his car... He opened the door, and handed me a box... And told me it has been over 2 years, and he figured it was about time he gave this to me.. (in the parking lot really?) When I opened the box up, it was EMPTY!!!! Bitter Much... (stupid practical joke I gave him for Christmas).
So, I hop back into my car, with an empty box, and a little surprised that John was that slick, and head home. When I got home, John had the present that he made for me for Christmas on the dining room table, but he had a clamshell in his hand.
So although a little hesitant, I opened up the clamshell, and found the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen, and looked over at John who was crying when he asked me to marry him.
That was a perfect day, one that I will remember forever, and I still have the notes to prove it.
