| | | Almost two years ago, on a very wet and rainy Wednesday evening, Andrew and I attended the Atlanta premiere of The Color Purple starring Fantasia at the Fox Theatre. Little did we know, the play would mark the beginning of a continuous series of "God Winks" that are the core of our friendship, relationship, and soon to be marriage. Interestingly, the book "God Winks" by Squire Rushnell continues to reference our thoughts, conversations, laughs, and experiences as we know God has interconnected our paths.
What Kendra is leaving out is that due to the weather, we missed dinner (for those of you who know me, you know how much I LOVE food). As a result, I ate a fully loaded hotdog with sauerkraut during the play while she snacked on Junior Mints (again, for those of you who really know her, you know her obsession with those things). Although I knew the hotdog was over the top, I decided that I was going to do me. It had to be a "God Wink" because even after the funky fully loaded hotdog aroma which was followed by my favorite breath spray, the only thing she said was "did you just spray during the play? Alrighty then!, and smiled." | | On Saturday July 2nd, 2011, under the backdrop of the 4th of July Fireworks Celebration at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Andrew proposed to me. To say, I did not see the proposal coming was an understatement. He TOTALLY surprised me and in doing so created yet another "God Wink" in our lives. How? Well, as some of you know, on July 4th, 2010, my family and I lost our beloved grandmother -- Mrs. Lula B. Logan.
Nana as I affectionately called her LOVED her some "Drew" as she affectionately called Andrew. She was his #1 cheerleader and would always ask about him and our dates consistently responding with "Ain't that so nice pooh?!" The fact that Andrew proposed almost a year to the date of Nana's passing speaks to the ways in which his #1 cheerleader is still cheering him on and reminds me that even in loss we gain.
In short, I got her Ya'll and I loved every minute of it!!!! | | Our family will join us on Saturday October 8th, 2011 in Nassau, Bahamas to share our special day with us. We invite you to share in this journey with us through our wedding website where you will find our engagement and great times photo gallery, our pre-wedding blog, and our honeymoon registry.
Thanks continually for your love, joy, excitement, and prayers!!!
