Beginner Surf Classes "Just do it!" The emphasis in these classes is on fun and safety. If you are a slow learner, no problem we pace the lesson for your maximum enjoyment. Just take your time, enjoy the learning experience, there is no pressure. When you are having fun you will want to keep coming back for more. If you are a quick learner athlete type, good for you, you can learn at your own pace as our instructors keep you challenged and the program progressive. That is why we prefer our small semi-private group sizes to give each individual the maximum attention. We supply all the gear: boards, shoes and rashguard. Just bring your towel, sunscreen and something to drink.

Hana Rainforest and Waterfall Hike This will be an adventure to write home about! Hana is the most tropical area on Maui. We'll be picked up with fresh ground coffee to sip along the way before we drive the "back road" through several different climate zones on our road trip to this tropical hiking location.
We'll hike under a dense tropical canopy, through a giant bamboo forest and past beautiful waterfalls as we make our way to our lunch site at the base of a 400+ foot waterfall that you can hardly fit in the camera viewfinder. Our knowledgeable guide will point out the exotic plants and fruits and local history of the area.
Of course, we will make sure to find a nice location to take a swim in a fresh water pool during the hike, so bring your swimsuit! Included: air conditioned transportation, a continental breakfast of fruit, muffins and coffee, hip packs, towels, jackets, snacks, water and a full deli lunch.
Free transportation is included in air-conditioned vans, with pick-up available at West Maui hotels or a central pick-up location for South Maui guests.

Lunch for Two at Aloha Mixed Plate Restaurant In the early days of the Hawaiian sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair. Plantation workers gathered in the fields for their mid-day meal. The Japanese laborers would bring teriyaki beef with rice and pickled vegetables. Seated next to them might be their Filipino neighbors with the traditional dish adobo or perhaps a pork or chicken stew. The Koreans had their kalbi or marinated ribs and the Chinese a rice noodle and vegetable dish called chow fun. Hawaiians were known for their kalua pig, roasted in an underground oven called an imu. It wasn’t long before they began to share their foods with one another and the "mixed plate" was born.
"Two scoops rice" and "one scoop macaroni salad" always accompany the traditional plate lunch. The rice is an important part of the meal because it provides the "backdrop" for the distinctive flavors of the main courses which, local style, tend toward the savory. Macaroni salad also presents a counterpoint to the main courses while providing a small portion of vegetables such as finely chopped carrots and small diced celery — just the way the Locals like it.
And there you have it, a sampling of the traditional foods of the varied ethnic groups that call Hawaii home. The "plate lunch" or "mixed plate" is made available for you to enjoy here at Aloha Mixed Plate.
