Governors Island logistics and details
Governors Island is only accessible on foot via free ferry. Parking and ferry details are included below, as well as highlights of activities on the island, outside of our wedding, that you can enjoy. Please feel free to come early to the island. The Wedding area will open at 1:30 for all guests and the ceremony will start at 2PM. We recommend you plan on taking the 1PM ferry at the latest.

Governors Island Ferry Terminal
The Governors Island Ferry is located in the Battery Maritime Building, Slip #7, 10 South Street, New York, NY 10004. The Battery Maritime Building is a large green building decorated with blue flags and is located east of the Staten Island Ferry terminal.
Subway 1 to South Ferry station 4, 5 to Bowling Green station R to Whitehall St. station
Driving Directions to Lower Manhattan:
From the East Side of Manhattan: FDR south to Exit 1, the Battery Park/Staten Island ferry exit.
From the West Side of Manhattan: Take the West Side Highway/West Street to the FDR and exit at South Street as you emerge from the Battery Park Tunnel. From Midtown, take Broadway to its end in Lower Manhattan.
Parking details
In lower Manhattan, on-street parking is extremely difficult to find. Parking is metered at one-hour intervals (not recommended). Parking regulations are vigorously enforced and parking tickets are very costly. Here are two garages located near the ferry

Ferry Details
Manhattan Ferry Free ferries depart at 10 AM, 11AM, and then every half hour until 5:30 PM. Ferries return to Manhattan at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM and then every half hour until 7 PM.
Brooklyn Ferry Free ferries run continuously, approximately every 10 minutes, beginning at 11 AM. The last ferry returns to Brooklyn at 7 PM. The free ferry from Brooklyn leaves from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, located at the foot of Atlantic Avenue (corner of Columbia Street).
Island Fun and activities
The Island’s signature exhibition this summer, Mark di Suvero at Governors Island: Presented by the Storm King Art Center, features 11 iconic works by the sculptor Mark di Suvero and is the largest outdoor presentation of his work in New York City in more than three decades.
