Really its a single sentance that I still remember and will always be my memory of when we first met:
"Come meet my brother"
.... followed by
"You guys are going to be a cute couple"
..... exit Jeff
I met Shawn at Jeff's 21st birthday celebration. From the moment I saw him I thought to myself "Oh boy I'm in trouble, he is SO cute". After our very acqward introdution I tried to seek refugee in my sidekick Ally but she had left me to my own defenses while she proceeded to find herself a date for the night. Sensing my uncomfortableness Shawn asked how I knew Jeff, I proceeded to explain that I am in the Navy and was on the same ship. Shawn went on to tell me that he was in the Navy as well but was a submariner. We continued to discuss the difference between surface and sub Navy. As our conversations went on things became less ackward, well untill Jeff tried to play wing man, and failed in his attempt, due to over celebration of his 21. It felt like we had talked all night, and to be honest we kind of did. It was just about last call when my sidekick claimed that she was ready to go and called it a night.
At one point durning the night, Jeff tried to introduced another one of his female friends to Shawn. Shawn was polite enough to say hello, but that's as far as his politeness went, cause he immediately turned back around to me and started to tell me more about what its like to be on a sub. It may have been kind of rude to the other girl but to me it was kind of sweet, that he would have much rather talked to me.
Its kind of funny how things worked out cause I almost didnt go out that night. I spent all that time getting ready, but the whole time all I could think about was how Id rather put pj's on and go to bed. I'm sure glad I got my lazy bum out the door that night, if I hadnt I may not have ever met this amazing man im about to marry. |
