| Have you ever had that favorite thing that you simply loved? Have you ever anticipated getting to that favorite thing because it was too much or too big to take along? Have you ever closed your eyes in the midst of a painfully hectic, overwhelming, and seemingly never-ending day and saw yourself with your favorite thing? Can I get a witness or two maybe three? Well, "what do you do" (In Pastor Donnie Mc Clurkin voice) when your favorite thing can't go where your going? What happens when the thing that you've depended on to bring comfort, solace, great times, and endless laughs has run its course? Do you hold on for dear life in spite of the facts and truth staring at you? Do you walk around in denial refusing to let go? Do you find a friend to hold it over until you can get back to it? Or do you simply let go? After weeks of over analysis, India Arie-esque "I am not my ..." confessions, and more separation anxiety than I care to admit, I can finally say "I am NOT my favorite teal green and chocolate brown oversized couch and ottoman!!!" Although I wish it was small enough to go with me to our new beginning, the facts and truth are not in its (or it's complimentary oversized chair) favor :-(. Thus, in the words of one's of my favorite Praise and Worship leaders, I somberly yet soberly declare: "I'm not going back I'm moving ahead Here to declare to you my past is over in You (even teal green and chocolate brown oversized favorite things), All things are made new ... Moving forward ;-)!!! |
